Type Locality and Naming

Along the Ovkhana River, Ziaetdin Mountains. V.S. Korsakov et al. in 1993 (460, p.87) from the composition of the Katadjarskaya suite. Stratotype in the Ovkhana River area. Previously (Korsakov et al., 1984) these deposits were attributed to the second type of section of the Katadzhar Fm.

Synonym: Ovkhaninskaya Formation, Овханинская св., Ovkhan Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Limestones, dolomitic limestones, clayey and sandy with chert nodules, in the top layers of argillites. Thickness 70-90m.
